Not all hair loss is the same – and your treatment shouldn’t be either
Hair loss happens for many reasons – stress, hormones, nutrition, even weight loss. Some types are temporary and reversible, while others are more persistent and need medical treatment to support regrowth.
At Juniper, our clinicians assess your hair, health, and hormones to uncover the cause of your hair loss – then create a personalised treatment plan that targets it at the root.
What might be causing your hair loss:

What causes hair loss in women?
Women’s hair loss can be caused by a range of factors.
Female Pattern Hair Loss, the most common cause of hair loss in women, is a progressive condition caused by genetics, hormones and ageing.
Telogen Effluvium, another common cause of hair loss in women, is a temporary form of hair loss that is usually triggered by a systemic or scalp stressor such as illness, stress, medication change and rapid significant weight loss.
What is the normal amount of hair to lose per day?
It’s normal to lose between 50-100 strands of hair per day as part of the natural hair growth cycle.
Female hair loss occurs when the rate of shedding exceeds this, or when hair grows back thinner over time, leading to noticeable thinning or reduced volume.
Is it normal to lose hair when on the Juniper Weight Reset Programme?
Yes, some patients may experience temporary hair shedding after sudden or significant weight loss during the Juniper Weight Reset Programme.
This type of hair loss is known as Telogen Effluvium, a short-term response where the body temporarily redirects energy away from non-essential processes like hair growth, while it adjusts to changes in nutrition and metabolism.
Is there a cure for hair loss in women?
While there is no permanent cure to female hair loss, there are effective treatments that can help slow, stop and reverse hair loss. For most women, continuous treatment is needed to maintain results.
When can I expect to see results with Juniper’s Hair Renewal Treatment?
Initial results may appear after 3–6 months, with full benefits usually seen at 12 months. Some patients may notice temporary mild shedding initially in the first 2-6 weeks of treatment - this is completely normal and reversible, and occurs as weaker hairs fall out to make room for new, stronger growth.
Is Juniper’s Hair Renewal Treatment suitable for pregnancy and breastfeeding?
No, our treatments should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
